The figures you type never leave your browser.

Every calculator on this site runs entirely on your own device. Your salary, your invoice totals, how many children you claim for – none of it is sent to us, because there is nothing here to send it to. The page fetches a file of tax rates and does the arithmetic where you are sitting. Close the tab and it is gone.

There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no newsletter. We do not ask for your name or your email address, and there is no form on this site that submits anything anywhere.

Switching between calculators

So that moving from one calculator to another and back does not lose your figures, what you have typed is kept in your browser's session storage for this tab. It stays on your device, we cannot read it, and it is deleted the moment the tab closes.

That is deliberately the kind of storage that does not survive. A salary should not be sitting in a browser waiting for whoever uses the computer next.

Cookies

None. This site sets no cookies at all, which is why you were not asked to agree to any.

What is measured

Page views, and nothing else. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts how many times each page was opened so we know which calculators are worth building more of. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not follow you between visits or between sites. Cloudflare state that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data, and it deliberately does not record the query string part of a URL in case it holds something sensitive.

No profile of you is built, nothing is shared with advertisers, and there is no way for us to look up what any individual did. We can see that a page was viewed a thousand times; we cannot see that you viewed it.

What our host sees

The site is served by Cloudflare, which – like any web host – processes the technical details of a request, including your IP address, in order to deliver the page and to block attacks. That is theirs rather than ours, and it happens whether or not we measure anything.

Other sites

Pages link to gov.uk so you can check any figure against its source. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We also load a typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch it.

Your rights

UK GDPR gives you rights over personal data held about you – access, correction, erasure and objection among them. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing to ask us for. If that ever changes this page changes with it, before it changes rather than after.

If anything on this page stops being true, the page changes at the same time as the thing it describes. It is dated below so you can see when it was last true.
